Purchases, restores and cancelling

Lauds Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase, bought through your Apple ID. Family Sharing is on for all three.

Restore: after reinstalling the app or moving to a new iPhone, open Settings in the app and tap “Restore purchases”. Pro comes back on any device signed in with the same Apple ID.

Cancel: subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Lauds, and tap Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.

The morning notification and the widgets

The 6:30 notification is scheduled on your phone (you can change the time in Settings). If it stops arriving, check iPhone Settings → Notifications → Lauds is allowed, and that Focus modes are not silencing it. Opening the app once re-schedules the coming week.

Lock Screen widget: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, tap the widget area under the clock and choose Lauds. Home Screen widget: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap the + button, search for Lauds. Widgets refresh once a day with the feast, the saint and the day's psalm line; a candle you light appears there too.

The readings

“Read today's readings” opens the day's page on bible.usccb.org inside the app, in Reader mode when Safari offers it. The app lists the citations itself but does not reproduce the Lectionary text; the offline page you can open instead is a public-domain translation (Douay-Rheims or the Catholic Public Domain Version) and says so on screen. Verse numbering in the psalms can differ by one from the citation.

The voice

The prayers in Lauds Pro are read by a synthetic voice, generated from the prayer text before the app ships. It is not a recording of a person. If a track sounds wrong or a word is misread, tell us which prayer and where — we regenerate tracks between releases.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete my data wipes everything the app keeps on your phone. To delete the anonymous purchase record as well, email us the identifier shown on that screen (see the privacy policy for what that record contains).

Sources

Every text in the app is public domain or ours, and the app names the edition. Lauds is an independent app; it is not affiliated with any diocese, bishops' conference or publisher. If you believe something in the app is misattributed, write to us with the screen and the line.
